It took the industry around six years to go from 100Gbps to 400Gbps Ethernet. Now, just two years later, the first 800Gbps Ethernet products are being developed and plans for implementing 1.6Tbps Ethernet are being discussed.
Like the current 400Gbps Ethernet technology, 800Gbps Ethernet is based on Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM4), but it doubles the SerDes speed to 112Gbps and the Baud rate to 56GBaud.
The 112Gbps SerDes technology is the base for new 800Gbps Ethernet developments and also leads to new versions of 400Gbps, 200Gbps and 100Gbps Ethernet systems.
Xena is committed to maintaining its leadership position as a reliable first mover in high-speed Ethernet traffic generation and analysis (TGA) solutions. Just as we were with our Thor 400Gbps test modules, Xena is one of the very first to market with functional 800Gbps framed Ethernet test solutions.
Named Freya (after the Nordic goddess of fertility), this family of test modules uses the new 112Gbps SerDes. Part of the Valkyrie product line, they are compatible with our ValkyrieBay 2400 chassis and will be a stepping stone towards future 1.6 Terabit Ethernet testing.
Xena Networks joined forces with AMD Xilinx, MultiLane and Teledyne LeCroy to provide a masterclass in implementing 112Gbps SerDes.
Any engineer preparing to upgrade from 56Gbps to 112Gbps SerDes will find a wealth of valuable information in these four presentations.
