Time Sensitive Networking

Test. Improve. Repeat.

Previously network equipment simply needed to ensure the delivery of data. These days it is critical that traffic arrives at the right time to ensure a good user experience for people watching video, or talking to each other over the Internet.

To achieve this a set of standards is under development called Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN). TSN focuses on the three key components required for a complete real-time communication solution based on switched Ethernet networks with deterministic Quality of Service (QoS) for point-to-point connections:

  • time synchronization
  • scheduling and traffic shaping
  • and the selection of communication paths, path reservations and fault-tolerance

Xena’s Ethernet traffic generation and analysis solutions are ideally positioned to help researchers, manufacturers and service providers measure the performance of TSN solutions.
