Lightwave Innovation Award 4.0

2026 Lightwave Innovation Award

“A well-designed, useful product that supports both 112G and 224G interfaces up to 1.6 Tbps.”

Z1608 Edun wins Lightwave Innovation award 2026

“Teledyne LeCroy’s Z1608 Edun enables cable, transceiver, chip and switch manufacturers and data center operators to accelerate product development and validation of terabit Ethernet technologies. This allows users to validate performance across a wide range of Ethernet speeds (from 100GE to 1.6TE). This capability is crucial for meeting the growing bandwidth demands in AI, HPC, and cloud infrastructure. Supporting testing of both 112G and 224G PAM4 SerDes, it can also test optical transceivers and active and passive cables. Z1608 Edun can provide time-to-market for terabit-capable components like transceivers, cables, chips, switches, and NICs. The Z1608 is a quiet, compact tester, suitable for use on the desktop – a form factor important for lab-based development and QA environments. Requiring no new licenses to test Terabit Ethernet and making it easy for customers to integrate the new Z1608 Edun with their legacy Xena solutions – including automation and scripting features of Xena OpenAutomation (XOA), thereby reducing the overall cost of ownership.”

2025 Lightwave Innovation Award

The Xena Ethernet Test Platform earned a Lightwave Innovation +BTR score of 4.0 at OFC2025. The Xena Ethernet Test Platform lets developers use the full resources of both Xena Ethernet traffic generators & E100 network emulator (via XOA) and SierraNet M1288 Protocol Analyzer via the Link Expert SW.

Xena test platform wins Lightwave Innovation award

“Leveraging Teledyne LeCroy’s LinkExpert software, the Xena Ethernet Test Platform (XETP) lets developers of 112G SerDes PAM4 devices and services delve deep into the complexities of optimizing traffic at speeds up to 800 Gbps. Leveraging the unique “built-in” PHY of the Z800 Freya traffic generators, developers can quickly perform a range of tests faster and with greater control than the 2-3 other comparable solutions on the market, which all rely on 3rd party PHYs.”

2023 Lightwave Innovation Award #1

Xena’s Freya 800G Ethernet traffic generator received a 4.0 score from Lightwave Innovation in the category of Lab/Production Test Equipment in 2023.

800Gbps test module

Xena’s Freya Traffic Generator is one of the first to support 800Gbps Ethernet testing over 56G & 112G SerDes. A unique feature of the product is the proprietary implementation and control over all Physical (PHY) sublayers inside the FPGA rather than using a 3rd party PHY with a fixed feature set. This new implementation is called the “Xena PHY”.

The benefits of this unique feature are fast, flexible and highly granular access for testing specific features as well as the flexibility to add new features as standards and use cases evolve.

2021 Lightwave Innovation Award

Chimera, Xena’s network emulation solution received a 4.0 score from Lightwave Innovation in the category of Lab/Production Test Equipment in 2021.

Chimera Traffic Emulator Module

Chimera adds a valuable dimension to Xena’s Ethernet Traffic Generator solutions by giving test engineers a quick and easy way to measure multiple forms of latency and jitter up to 100Gbps seamlessly from within XenaManager.

Key features for Chimera are:

  • True wire-speed impairment at 100Gbps (plus 50 / 40 /25 & 10Gbps)
  • Ease of use – Chimera is a stand-alone network emulation tool that integrates seamlessly with the Xena traffic generator letting you use the same SW to both generate and impair Ethernet traffic.
  • Highest port density in the industry – plus option to reserve individual port-pairs without blocking access to the others
  • Setting up custom impairment distributions is quick and simple
  • Chimera supports a broad range of impairments (latency/jitter, packet & port impairments, flexible distributions, BW shaping etc)
  • Powerful, easy-to-use automation & scripting options
  • A price point 50% below comparable hardware emulators
